It is not an ashtray. It is a ceramic soap container - the one you get for free when you purchase toilet bowls and bathroom tiles and bathroom sink. After Dad left for the States, Mom threw away all the ashtrays because no one else in the family smoked. No one, until I learned how to.
As I cleared my desk, I threw away the cigarette box and hid the lighter. I threw all the ashes from the improvised ashtray and decided to hand it back to Mom.
Attempt number... I really can't remember. I just know it is time to let go (again).
